September-November 2020 : equipment delivery to our recycling partners
We have been able to deliver about 25 wings and other equipments to our recycling partners.
This activity is an integral part of our chart.
The equipment delivered to us, once we have checked it will not be able to fly again, must be bale to find a second life.
It is our partners Paracyclage (Switzerland), Kite&Recycle and Aurélie Grobost who from those deliveries.
There are now a number of projects in the area of paragliding equipment recycling, and this is just great!
We have given to Bruno Couteaux 5 complete equipments which will be used by the club Crête Atlas pilots, created by Zouhaïr.
Remember, Zouhaïr, it is him that sewed his first wing, and the film shot by Prisca Ayari got the press prize at the Icare 2019 festival.
The film teaser can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ3eMbutAqQ
It is Bruno which will take care of the delivery during his next trip to Marocco, hoping that the current Covid crisis will allow the trip in a reasonable delay.
September 2020 : 5 complete equipments for the Crête Atlas club (Marocco)
September 2020 : Initial Recycl’air collection
We have organized a first appeal for donations aimed at the Ailes de Sénart club members
It is a total of 11 wings, 6 harnesses, 4 rescues and 2 flying instruments which came back!
The current Covid crisis doesn’t allow physical meetings to promote the activity, and it is already a great result.
We probably will be able to consume the entire budget allocated by the FFVL and the Agence Nationale du Sport before the year end.
Sept.23rd, 2020 : Equipment received by the Tifnit club – Marocco
We have received some news of the arrival of 6 equipments for the young Tifnit club.
Aziz, the super-talented pilot based in Aglou helped us discover this dynamic club.
We were able to prepare a lot of equipment, with the support of our donators and our revision partners (Ripair, Certika and Wingshop) who accelerated the necessary revisions before shipment.
As soon as received, the equipment has been distributed and used.
We have prepared very complete equipments, with wings, rescues, harnesses, helmets, instruments and even some cloting and shoes.
Another set of pilots is now able to fly serenely with revised equipment.
July 25th, 2020 : a very kind testimonial from the “Hrissa Sports” club in Tunisia
It always feels good to witness how our equipments are used by young pilots, and to watch such nice images.
Our friend Gilles Fonlladosa is acting behind the scenes making sure the equipments (wings, harnesses, rescues, helmets, radios, …) reach this young and dynamic club.
July 2020 : The « Recycl’air » subsidy is awarded
The FFVL and the National Sport Agency have decided to trust the Ailes de Sénart club, and Ailes pour Eux.
We were allocated this subsidy under the “innovating projects” to foster the club’s members awareness to recycle unused equipment, and help Ailes pour Eux value this equipment.
The subsidy is split 60% for the club members, and 40% for Ailes pour Eux.
This is a first for the FFVL, no other club was awarded such a subsidy is this area. It is once more a proof that our activity is right on the spot.
June 02,2020 - Receiving our order at Bout d'Aile
You don't know Bout d'Aile?
These are two young women who are moving to set up recycling of paragliders, and who manufacture quality products: Tote bags, loose sachets, cases, purses, backpack, etc ...
Wings for Them has ordered thirty bags from them from the wings that we have given them. Here is a selection of some of these objects. We sell them to pilots who want to put a little ecology in their daily life. This helps us finance wing revisions that are still "flyable"
We have applied for a grant to implement actions in the field of recycling, reuse, and ecological behavior of members of the club Les Ailes de Senart.
This grant, if granted, will fund the recovery of equipment, help with the overhaul of equipment if it is still flyable, and ensure that sensitive sites are maintained.
We are pleased to have been supported by the FFVL Sustainable Development Commission for this request.
We will keep you informed of the follow-up to this request, answers expected at the end of June.
May 2, 2020 - Finalization of a grant application for the Ailes de Senart under the "Federal Sports Project/National Sport Agency"
April 2020 - Discussions with Aziz d'Aglou for the Tifnit club
We managed to talk to Aziz, Aglou's gifted pilot.
He is temporarily stranded in France, his wife has given birth to a beautiful baby but they are unable to return home.
The Tifnit club asked us to help them to provide them with equipment because they do not have much, and often out of age.
We will also try to find solutions, knowing that freight costs are the most important.
We were all amazed by Prisca's film about Zouhaïr, a paragliding enthusiast who sews his own sails and tests them in flight.
The film has gained the press prize at the last Icare du Cinéma, see also the beautiful article on https://paragliding.rocktheoutdoor.com/portraits/zouhair-fabrique-lui-meme-dans-son-village-son-parapente-maroc/
Parapente's No. 470 also devoted an 8-page article on Zouhaïr and Prisca
Thanks to Bruno Couteaux, we were able to get in touch with him, and see how we could help the small local club to equip themselves better.
We now have an inventory of needs, and are waiting for the necessary (and revised) equipment to be able to send it
March 20, 2020 - Contact with Zouhaïr and the club CRÊTE ATLAS TICHOUKT BOULEMANE
March 16 2020 - Launch of a campaign to estimate the needs of our recycling partners
In order to estimate the demands for materials to be recycled, François contacted all our partners.
The objective is to determine for the coming months the quantities and types of materials desired, as well as the practical methods of recovering these materials.
Our activities in this area are very important, and represent a significant amount of time and investment.
That is why we seek to make the best use of this sector.
We are also trying to get some money back through recycling, so that we can finance revisions and shipments of equipment flying abroad.
March 12, 2020 - Gift from “Les Ailes de Tonnerre”
4 wings in small sizes, all flying, it's amazing! Hugues regularly renews the material he uses for the school courses he does every year. This year, it is Ailes pour Eux who can benefit from this rotation of equipment.
With these 4 wings, Hugues also offered us some harnesses in sizes XS and S, as well as 4 helmets.
This donation comes at a good time for all the young pilots we help, and who are usually in fairly small PTV.
Thank you Hughes, and good luck with your school training activities.
March 12, 2020 - Gift from “Les Ailes de Tonnerre”
14 wings, 4 harnesses, 2 rescues, instruments, clothes, a wonderful gift from Les Ailes de Tonnerre!
Following the tragic disappearance of Jean-Michel Coplet, the club wanted to ensure that all the equipment he had accumulated could be reused as much as possible.
The club also collected from its members, so it was a very large donation that Ailes pour Eux was able to recover.
Thanks to Les Aigles de Tonnerre!
We were contacted by Chris, who for almost 20 years has been struggling to bring equipment to Cuba.
His passion for paragliding and for Cuba convinced us to help him.
This Bi was revised in Germany before being sent to Cuba.
Let's hope it can be used to develop the business a little more in this beautiful country.
February 17, 2020 - Delivery of a Bi Gradient to Chris Arnu for Cuba
Two wings for Algeria in Skikda – Feb.2020
Through Akim Bentroudi, we have been able to provide revision of two gliders to help the young “Albatros parapente” club in Skikda. Fethi Kharkar, certified instructor of the FASA (“Fédération Algérienne des Sports Aérien") manages the new pilots education.
4 complete equipments for Tunisia – Feb.2020
It is yet again our friend Gil Fonlladosa who allows us to deliver equipement for the young and dynamic ASPAA club in Bizerte. This equipment will also be sued by a brand new club in south Tunisia, funnily called “Hrissa Sports – les sports qui piquent ” (you need to be french speaking to get this…)
Equipment for a clever recycling – Février 2020
We have been able to provide 4 wings to UNAP Pontarlier, a small structure offering handicaped workers a warn and friendly place. This structure, while already manufacturing many objects out of wax, proposes to recycle our wings to manufacture bags and other small objects.
The wings we have provided have been tested and are not flyable anymore.
The recycling/upcycling activities allow us to give a real value to the equipment, and avoids finding it in a waste or stored for life in a garage.
Important donation from our Swiss friends – Feb.2020
It is yet again a marvelous surprise…generosity of Stéphane Bigler and the pilots of two clubs based around the Leman lake is limitless. Amongst the donations, 5 wings including 2 almost new wings, harnesses, rescues, helmets, and various radio and alti-varios.
Equipments for Cuba
We are very happy with the equipment delivered to Cuban pilots. Just check the smiles on everyone’s faces!
Let’s now hope that we can continue our shipments to Cuba, needs are gigantic, and the pilots are worth it.
It is a great pleasure that we have been able to prepare equipment for Cuba.
As much we know that local pilots are in desperate need of recent equipment, Cuba remains a complicated destination.
Airfreight costs represent several months of the average salary, import of any kind of electronic equipment is totally prohibited, and making sure that the equipment is fairly distributed once it has arrived is difficult to control.
Through our friend Rénier Trujillobarani (Right on the picture) the equipment will be delivered locally.
Our equipment will be fairly split through David Calas, who manages this task regularly.
We are very happy to have sent three complete revised equipments (wing, rescue, harness and carrying bags)
We soon will publish some pictures of the equipment, now that internet can be used in Cuba!
August 2019 - Equipments for Cuba
August 2019 - Nemours
It is always a great pleasure to receive photo or video testimonials from our users with the gear they have been offered
This month, , we have received 2 videos from our Algerian friends in Mostaganem, alongside with a thank you message.
The Mostaganem paragliding team wishes to thank the Ailes pour Eux association for everything you do to promote paragliding in Algeria and elsewhere. Our thanks also go the donators, without whom nothing would be possible. Thank you also to the network of friends incl. Bilal & Hakim Lahneche, who gave so much of their time and energy o allow the equipment to get here !
June 2019 - Nemours
Ailes pour Eux is very happy to be overloaded with equipment donated for disadvantaged pilots.
This shows how generous and sharing this community can be.
While this is very nice, it also involves that we now get a larger storage area.
We have identified a very kind local entrepreneur in the city of Nemours, quite involved with the “Secours Catholique””, who has offered to provide us free of charge a 15sqm (and more than 3m tall) area in a larger hangar.
We now have the keys, allowing us to get access to the equipment at any time.
Generosity, outside paragliding pilots, also exists!
A very warm thank you to this person.
New shipments can be made to the same address as usual, despite the storage place change.
Good flights to all!
February 2019 - Bizerte
January 2019 - Bizerte
As the New Year starts, we have been informed that a delivery has taken place in Bizerte - Tunisia - through the support of Gil Fonlladosa.
